How to Convert PDF to Images
1
Upload your PDF: Click the upload area or drag and drop. Everything runs in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
2
Choose settings: Select JPG or PNG format, output quality (Standard / High / Ultra DPI), and background colour. PNG with transparent background is useful for design work.
3
Select pages: Click thumbnails to select or deselect individual pages. Use "Select All", "Odd/Even", or type a range like "2-5, 8" for quick selection.
4
Convert & Download: A single page downloads directly as an image file. Multiple pages are bundled into a ZIP file for easy download.
JPG vs PNG — Which Should You Choose?
JPG (JPEG) uses lossy compression — it produces smaller file sizes but with a slight reduction in quality, most noticeable in images with sharp text or thin lines at low quality settings. It is best for photographs, scanned documents, and when file size matters. At 85%+ quality, JPG is virtually indistinguishable from the original for most documents.
PNG uses lossless compression — every pixel is preserved exactly. File sizes are larger, but quality is perfect. Use PNG when you need transparent backgrounds (e.g., for use in presentations or design software), when the PDF has sharp text and diagrams, or when the image will be edited further.
What is DPI and Which Should I Choose?
DPI (Dots Per Inch) determines the resolution of the output image. Standard (96 DPI) is fine for on-screen viewing and sharing via WhatsApp or email. High (192 DPI) is recommended for most uses — sharp enough for printing on A4 at normal size. Ultra (288 DPI) produces very large, sharp images suitable for large-format printing or detailed inspection. Note that higher DPI means larger file sizes and longer conversion time.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. This tool uses PDF.js (Mozilla's open-source PDF engine) running entirely in your browser. Your PDF file never leaves your device. This makes it completely safe for sensitive documents like Aadhaar cards, certificates, and confidential reports.
Try increasing the quality setting to "High (192 DPI)" or "Ultra (288 DPI)". Standard DPI is designed for screen use only. Also ensure you are using PNG format for documents with sharp text and fine lines.
No. PDF.js cannot render password-protected (encrypted) PDFs without the correct password. You would need to unlock the PDF first using its owner password before using this tool.
There is no hard limit, but very large PDFs (100+ MB or 500+ pages) may slow down or run out of browser memory on low-end devices. For best results on mobile, keep PDFs under 20 MB.
The converted images contain the same content as your original PDF. Usage rights depend on the content of your PDF, not the conversion tool. Our tool itself has no restrictions on commercial use.
